Beverly Pop was born on the mission field in Chile South America. Her parents were missionaries for The Salvation Army. Her grandfather took the first work of The Salvation Army into Mexico and ministered there for thirty-four years. He became known as the Angel of the Rio Grande.
Beverly describes her life story as a lesson on how God is faithful and that He can use anyone, if only they make themselves available to Him. Not having a clear direction in life, Beverly did not finish college, but went to work for The Salvation Army as a Public Relations Assistant. There she grew in responsibility and accomplishments that expanded into a twenty-six year career.
Beverly served as the Director of Public Relations for The Salvation Army in Fort Worth, Texas where she established the first NBC cause-related marketing partnership in the nation. She went on to serve as the Director of Development for The Salvation Army Area Commands in Miami, Houston and Dallas. In each of these locations she used innovation to increase funding and public awareness. Beverly developed nine nationally recognized “best practice” initiatives, including using wireless technology to develop the first cashless Red Kettle. She also restructured The Salvation Army’s annual luncheon in Dallas into the highest grossing fund raising event in the history of The Salvation Army, raising $3.3 million. She directed the #1 fundraising teams in the country raising over $150 million in revenue at the height of the recession for The Salvation Army.
Beverly’s professional experience goes beyond public relations and fundraising. She has worked with the NFL Super Bowl committee, coordinated multiple disaster relief services, and she facilitates the Master’s Program for Women.
Always on the forefront of Beverly’s mind are the spiritual needs of those around her. Thus her approach to life and work has always been about discovering opportunities to minister; to always be looking and listening for God to open doors. Beverly describes one of her greatest joys in life is when a person catches the vision of God’s plan for his/her life. Beverly found and married her soul mate, Paul, in 1991.
